Its Anne, Not Ian

So, apparently when I say my name hear all they hear is “IAN.”

This morning for example someone says “Hello, are you new to the desk here?” and I reply “Yes, I’m Anne Farrar its nice to meet you.” – (Pretty normal response please note).

Later in the day the same person comes up and says “Ian, I would like you to meet ____.” And I say “Its nice to meet you, and its Anne not Ian”

He says “EEEEE----AAANNNN”

I say, “No, Anne”

He says “EEEEE----AAANNNN”

I say, “No, AAAAA-NNN—NNNN-EEEE”

He says “Spelled I-A-N, right?”

UGH.

I wish I could say this is the first time this has happened, but no it was approximately number 12 in this week alone. So when I do finally spell my name out they pronounce it “Ahhhhhhhh-n”

So I guess for the next 2 years I have the choice between Ian or Ahhhn, but definitely not Anne.
