So its been too long since I have blogged.
Our nursery - 1 striped wall, 3 all blue walls - to the right....me , Burr, and Baby at 27 weeks.
Catch-up over the summer: Several beach trips including a 30th bday party for Anne Brady, Wedding in Hilton Head – congrats Kelly!!, UVA retreat, and family beach trips. This past weekend we went to Dallas to visit lots of my family there. Why didn’t anyone tell me how hot it was there before we left?! I usually visit Dallas in December – great time to go to Texas, not so much when you are 8 months pregnant in September. Despite the heat we had a fabulous time visiting with friends and family.
Yes I have finally reached 32 weeks pregnant. Doesn’t it seem like I have been pregnant for a decade? Yes, I feel it too. I had a great 2nd trimester so things were bound to catch-up with me so now Burr has to deal with a lot of complaints and whining. A LOT OF IT! Thank goodness he is a good sport and encourages massages whenever I feel like it! Yeah husband points. Unfortunately, I think Burr does this because he knows I will pass up a massage anyday over a pair of new shoes, bags, or some jewels…so there have only been a few massages and much more online shopping!
This weekend we are headed to the UVA vs. Penn State football game. I will waddle myself around there. Thinking of getting one of those beer caps that has the straws which go into your mouth and using it for water considering how hot it will be. Do you think they will let me in the game with one of those hats on if its water?
In 2 weeks my dear friends Katie, Sally, Austin, and Anne Brady are hosting a baby shower for me. I am SOOOO excited. It’s a tea time party – which is right up my alley. LOVE tea time and cakes!
Today at the Doctor I hadn’t gained any weight in 2 weeks, yet the time before that I had gained 4 lbs in 2 weeks. So the Burr went ahead and asked the Dr if I was eating enough. I wanted to say “Hello, are your eyes open? I eat twice what you eat daily plus cookies & icecream….I’m HUGE…yes I’m eating enough” Bless his heart. Thankfully my Dr said 4 lbs in a month is right on track so no need to increase my eating, thanks Doctor I’m not sure I could get 2 Chik-fil-a milkshakes in me a day….hahaha
Pretty much only work and baby stuff is on our minds right now. Names anyone?? We could definitely use some help in that department.
I kinda love being pregnant and people being super nice to you. For instance.
1. The airport fake-police-patrol guy let me park at the curb at the arrivals terminal and use the bathroom. Who does that?! I just had to rub my belly and smile! Loved him.
2. Everyone at the store moves out of the way for you….no, this is not because my girth is the size of the cart…be quite
3. Anytime you wait in line to use the restroom people always let me go FIRST! Maybe after pregnancy , I should bring one of those fake bellies with me to all bars/restaurants, especially ones in Vegas where the wait for the bathroom is 30 minutes!
4. The maternity stores all have snacks, drinks, and bathroom breaks. Hello Neiman’s, Banana, & Jcrew catch-on quick before I come back! Yes, I would like to be handed a water and granola bar each time I walk in your stores, thank you.
Well hopefully I can post at least once more before this little guy makes an appearance. I seem to be spending more and more time on our couch so we shall see!
Love to all

Hi friends and family!!! We hope you are all doing
well. I would like to blame lack of
blogging on extreme business-ness but I think its just more selfish-ness,
tired, busy watching Bachelorette, etc.
So we’re a little over 22 weeks pregnant. YEAH! I think I’m starting to feel him kick but I’m
just not quite sure. Hopefully very soon!
We have been busy traveling. First to ATLANTIS with the
Farrar Family. It was AMAZING. I got to swim with dolphins and ride tons of
slides I wasn’t supposed to. It was great! We will post pics very soon. I also loved seeing all the fish tanks and I won back the money Burr lost on the last day at the craps table. Yeah me!
Then we went to Omaha to visit the Lodes family and college
world series. The park was beautiful and the USC vs. Florida game was very
good. The Lodes’ little girl, Leah, is about the
prettiest person ever. Big blue eyes and blonde hair….sooo cute.
Now we are working on our nursery and when I say ”working” I
really mean me talking to Burr incessantly while he tries to get me off the
ledge of buying ridiculously expensive curtains. And I do agree that who needs curtains when
we need diapers, car seats, etc. I just get very wound up in all the excitement. Which means we have bought NOTHING. Well except for a pair of shoes and a couple
onsies ! Soooooo we are working on it.
Next week we are off to the beach. YEAH! Love the beach.
Will post pics of Atlantis and Omaha very soon!! (Nic – can you
send me your pics pretty please?)
Love to all

Who guessed correctly????
We are having little Baby Boy Farrar!!! I always wanted a little boy first, just like me and Johnny. Who knows if it will work out that way…but I am SO excited that we are having a little boy. I feel like I don’t have to be as careful now, they are tougher right?! JUST KIDDING. From what I understand they are cheaper too :-P
We went to the Doctor on Thursday morning at 8:30 am (the time I thought our appt was) only to find out our appt was at 9:30. The nurse said “You know you have an hour to wait?!” Um, no…no I didn’t. So we went to starbucks, booted up our computers and worked for 50 minutes before going back…for our actual 9:30 appt. OOPS! Then they measured everything telling us the baby weighs 7 ounces. WOW. Where did all the other lbs I gained go then??? Hmmmmmm We told them to put our boy/girl in an envelope and we would find out later.
That evening, after work, and the LONGEST day ever!!!! (Not literally, just saying). We went to out back porch counted to 3 and opened our envelope. It said “It’s a boy!!” I screamed and Burr had the biggest smile on his face. It was adorable. We were thrilled.
This weekend we went to Hilton Head and Burr picked out some shoes for him…6 to 12 months little sneakers (or trainers for the UK folks!) So cute. They are navy with little baby blue ties.
Now I’m looking at nursery set ups. Any tips/suggestions are always appreciated!!
We are off to Atlantis on Friday. I am SOOOOOO excited. I am dying to go right now. The Farrars are taking us. Its our first time. The Doctor said I could go down rides that wouldn’t harm/hurt my belly. So I plan to send Burr to the casino, wrap a intertube around my waist and take off!!! Hahaha Only problem: Anne’s old bathing suits – tight tight tight. Ouch. Anne’s maternity bathing suit…falling off….think I need an “in between” size. Oh woah is me…. Who cares. We are having a baby boy!!!

Capacity
I have HIT CAPACITY!!!
Ouch Ouch Ouch. My dress is really digging into my sides,
and its elastic...woh woh (you know like the bad buzzer in price is right). This is NOT a good sign. I mean it is an extra
small from Limited and its not exactly maternity, but it’s a simple black wrap
dress except it has a band around the waist….which totally fit this morning at 7am
but now is seriously painful and its only 12:30. I have 5 more hours in the dress…what do I
do? Perhaps I could take some scissors
and just poke a little hole in it and keep my arms down. Or just keep yanking
on it and have everyone look at me like I’m crazy! UGH. Lesson learned,
maternity clothes here I come.
The problem is I only have 1 pair of “weekend” maternity
pants and 0 pairs of work pants. I don’t wear lots of work pants anyway, more skirts
and dresses. Must invest asap or I will
be working from home in my robe...if it still fits….or Burr’s tshirts and
soccer shorts. Even better. Hi Hunny, don’t I look pretty in these Arsenel
shorts?
Mother’s Day was nice. Lee and Steve came to town on Friday
and we cooked dinner and brunch. It was fun.
Then Sunday Burr and I attended church for 3 hours!! 1 hour of service
than 2 hours of new membership classes, we were ready to go by the end!!! (And
someone was hungry). Then yesterday Burr
gave me a big destination maternity bag full of fun pregnancy bath products. So
sweet! I’m sure its not easy to walk into a maternity store as a guy and feel comfortable.
I’m sure they saw him as “fresh bait.”
Well I love my new stuff! And for anyone saying I’m not a Mom yet…listen up …I have not eaten a piece
of raw sushi in 4 months, I haven’t had any poached eggs, or even slightly
poached, I have yet to drink a regular
coffee, and I have not had a glass of wine (beer or vodka) in 4 months!!! All I do is count how many servings of
calcium I have had during the day and wonder if I am drinking enough water. So
ZIP IT! I have a MOM to our avocado (or
that is what my app tells me).
Everyone keeps asking if I feel “flutters” or kicking, but not yet and I don’t
think today will be the day since my dress is cutting off my circulation.
Hopefully soon I will get to change out of these clothes and feel flutters!
11 days till we find out if it’s a girl or a boy!!

Oversharing
You guys know what I’m talking about, you’ve all met them. The “Over-sharer.” I feel like since I have told people I’m
pregnant the oversharing keeps coming and coming….and coming. I hadn’t noticed it too badly until Friday
night. I go tell yet another boss I’m preggo and he says “Oh, I just thought
you had been eating a lot…hahahaha”
Really dude? What is wrong with you?! Who says that to a pregnant
lady? Wow. And he continues “My first wife went into
labor for 24 hours and then had a C section, then with the next baby she was 5
weeks early in ICU and that was terrifying”
OK, thanks for sharing…you could have just said “Congrats”
Then last night was the epitomy of an over-sharer.
Burr and I went to Christ Church’s Welcome BBQ
for new comers. It was actually a really lovely home, great nice people and we
had a good time. We met a couple, in their 50s who had just moved from Newport
Beach. After we shared we were expecting
she immediately burst into how she had a “placenta problem” and proceeded to
talk about it for the next 15 mintues. Now, Burr and I were headed to the bar
at this point. Not that I care, Its not like I can drink and even if I had a
water I’d have to find a bathroom within 20 minutes (possibly 15…. but Burr
looked like he was going to snap or pass out.
She kept going on and on about
how its really hard when the placenta is in the way, she was using her hands to
motion and everything – WOW. I smiled,
nodded, and politely tried to leave… we had JUST met these people. Later on in the 25 minutes conversation, or
monologue, she told me that her first 3 kids came out in under 2 hours of labor
and no one needs drugs and I should definitely not use drugs. She
said on the bright side, if you go 24 hours you automatically get a C section….hmmmm…ok….no
comment. Luckily this is how the night
started and every person we met after that did not use visuals or even images
of their childbirth.
So, yes Burr and I are joining Chrirst Chruch in Charlotte.
We are very excited and was happy to be invited to the event last night. Big
thanks to Anne Brady for introducing us to the Westerburg’s!

Foodities
Why does everything smell like hot dogs? I’m not kidding all day – at least 4 times today I’ve smelled hot dogs. On the street, in my doctor’s office, at my client. I mean there cannot be that many people eating hot dogs. I think I’m craving hot dogs, but am I allowed to eat hot dogs? I bet that is on the naughty list…do you think the chicken hot dogs from trader joe’s are on the bad list ? Those things are delicious!
Other random food-ities moments I’ve been having:
- Egg MCMuffins – I have not eaten one of these since 1999 and all the sudden yesterday I NEEDED one! I ate it in the restaurant so quickly I bet the guy next to me was thinking I hadn’t eaten in days….oops. I’d like to note Lee Farrar’s favorite breakfast is Egg McMuffins, so I think the baby takes after her !
- Chips – I used to say this was a food group I could most definitively give up for 10 years. Now I can barely make it 2 days without chips. What is up with that? Yesterday at pita pit – yet another establishment I found myself at that I had no idea I liked – I couldn’t decide between baked bbq and baked cheddar and onion. I wanted baked Doritos. Kacie and I used to inhale Baked Doritos when we went to camp in 2004. I bet Burr wondered why I always smelled like doritios when he first met me. He also might have wondered why I weighed 40 pounds more than I do now….apparently Doritos baked or not….not so calorie- free. Now I would probably say I’d give up ice cream before chips….does that mean I’m having a boy b/ c I love salt. Last week I ate potato chips for dessert at night instead of an actual dessert. Then I had to throw away our leftover chips from the BBQ because I was chowing down on them way too quickly. Then, yesterday we went to Jason’s deli and we got the salad bar, except I ordered mine with a side of Baked Lays…Burr looked at me like I had 3 heads “Hey Mister…when a girl wants chips, she wants Chips!! If it was acceptable to only eat that for lunch I would!”
- Cottage cheese – I didn’t even like the taste of cottage cheese before I got pregnant. Thought it tasted like rotten milk, funny since it really is old milk essentially. Now I love it! Perhaps because its soooo salty. Yum.
- Peanut Butter – No I am NOT craving this or getting near it. But if Burr eats it I can smell it for hours in the house. Thankfully he usually eats it for breakfast so I can leave the house for hours, but I swear I can smell it 100 yards away….oh you want a kiss goodbye??? – you’ll have to brush your teeth, floss, rinse with mouthwash and REPEAT. TWICE. Love ya!
- Bagels and cream cheese – Yes, Ms. Healthy is in love with them! Thankfully there are such fun things as bagel thins that I’ve been loving but still. The very first week I was pregnant. I ate breakfast (I’d say 1.5 bowls of cereal) went to jazzercise, met a friend for coffee and somehow ended up with a bagel and cream cheese in front of me…hell breakfast number 2!
- Pizza – Last night I was craving pizza, and of course since I give in to every pregnancy craving….I take that back – I have not gone to get my Chik-fil-a sandwhich or milkshake yet, nor has anyone delivered me fresh La Duree macroons (HINT HINT)….but anyway last night I wanted Pizza so we had a 30 minute conversation about where I wanted it from…finally we decided to try a new place and I convinced Burr to walk there, it’s about a mile. This was a feat considering we had already walked about 3.5 miles before church and ran errands most of the day. But we walked and shared a pizza. And it was just liked the ones we used to heart in Lodnon. DELISH. I will definitely be returning quite soon.

Baby Farrar!!!
Soooo does everyone know now?! Baby Farrar is due October 29th!!!
YEAH!!! Burr and I are VERY excited. Very excited about the baby and very
excited that I don’t feel like a nauseous walking zombie anymore. I’m like a
new woman loving the 2nd trimester….everyone keeps telling me just
wait till you get huge. But I’m great right now.
So, for all those out there with little ones – how exactly
do you tell your boss? Here is a story
of what I did and how you should for sure NOT
tell your boss your pregnant:
I have several “bosses” (aka: partners and seniors
managers). So I have lots of people I need to tell, but I only felt obliged to
tell my big big boss. At lunch I started to tell him, then chickened
out….finally towards the end I tell him….except tears start rolling down my
face. WHY AM I CRYING? Men hate crying. Especially at work. I remember my 2nd
day in London I cried with Howard, my big boss, and he told me crying is never
acceptable at work…thanks dude. I wasn’t aware~! So my big boss was nice and asked why I was
upset. Of course I wasn’t upset I’m just full of hormones. OH MY. Embarrassing
much??
It gets worse….yes I know…after I tell the big big boss I
make no plans to tell anyone else until my 2nd trimester.......
So I am about 10 weeks along I went to the doctor
unexpectedly for some issues. After my ultrasound I go back to the waiting room
and text Burr “Baby is great. Heartbeat 174. Nothing to worry about. Waiting
for Doctor to see me now.” So I go on with my Dr’s appt and call Burr on the
way back to office. He is very pleased to hear my voice and happy to hear all
is well. Yeah baby is fine! Apparently my uterus was just stretching – well ouchie! (Yeah, I’m in a LOT of trouble for actual
labor – we can discuss this later).
I get back to my desk and I’m checking my phone and it looks
like I sent a text to my senior manager….then I look more carefully and I
didn’t text Burr “Baby is great. Heartbeat 174. Nothing to worry about. Waiting
for Doctor to see me now.” – I sent it to my bOSS!!!! OOOOOOO NNNOOOOOOO. And not just a guy boss,
my female boss who just happens to not be able to keep secrets. OOOPPPPSSSS. I
mean what do you do then? There is no
way you can talk yourself out of it. So
I called her and was like “Oh, yeah So I’m pregnant” and basically everyone
else in the office knew within a few days!
Here comes the fun!!!
