You guys know what I’m talking about, you’ve all met them. The “Over-sharer.” I feel like since I have told people I’m
pregnant the oversharing keeps coming and coming….and coming. I hadn’t noticed it too badly until Friday
night. I go tell yet another boss I’m preggo and he says “Oh, I just thought
you had been eating a lot…hahahaha”
Really dude? What is wrong with you?! Who says that to a pregnant
lady? Wow. And he continues “My first wife went into
labor for 24 hours and then had a C section, then with the next baby she was 5
weeks early in ICU and that was terrifying”
OK, thanks for sharing…you could have just said “Congrats”
Then last night was the epitomy of an over-sharer.
Burr and I went to Christ Church’s Welcome BBQ
for new comers. It was actually a really lovely home, great nice people and we
had a good time. We met a couple, in their 50s who had just moved from Newport
Beach. After we shared we were expecting
she immediately burst into how she had a “placenta problem” and proceeded to
talk about it for the next 15 mintues. Now, Burr and I were headed to the bar
at this point. Not that I care, Its not like I can drink and even if I had a
water I’d have to find a bathroom within 20 minutes (possibly 15…. but Burr
looked like he was going to snap or pass out.
She kept going on and on about
how its really hard when the placenta is in the way, she was using her hands to
motion and everything – WOW. I smiled,
nodded, and politely tried to leave… we had JUST met these people. Later on in the 25 minutes conversation, or
monologue, she told me that her first 3 kids came out in under 2 hours of labor
and no one needs drugs and I should definitely not use drugs. She
said on the bright side, if you go 24 hours you automatically get a C section….hmmmm…ok….no
comment. Luckily this is how the night
started and every person we met after that did not use visuals or even images
of their childbirth.
So, yes Burr and I are joining Chrirst Chruch in Charlotte.
We are very excited and was happy to be invited to the event last night. Big
thanks to Anne Brady for introducing us to the Westerburg’s!
