So we are currently at the Ho Chi Minh city airport. I am very thankful to be here because as I said before the flight in and out of Phu Quoc was quite terrifying. Burr even made me promise not to use my nails anymore when gripping his arm for dear life or I wouldn't be allowed to hold on anymore....geez he can be picky! Anyway, we are at the airport. Thanks to my US Airways Gold member status we are offered our option of
a) Massage b) Afternoon tea c) Lunch at one of 3 restaurants 4) airport lounge, and a couple others I cannot remember. We choose the lounge but first I see a sushi place and I am starving. We ordered a regular tuna roll and a spicy tuna roll. OH MY GOODNESS we were in for a rde.
Burr and I have never felt heat like that before. I was sweating like him again (seems to be a common thread of this trip) and we were staring at each other thinking "Do you feel like I feel?" Our mouths were on fire.... I noted probably because the rolls were coated in Cayenne Pepper. Netherless we ate 3 each and left immediately. See....we didn't have anything to drink because we knew the lounge would have water, beer, etc. and we just wanted some food and we only had a few Dong left to spend, so there we are sitting at this table - the only 2 in the place, both waving at our mouths....dying..... We decided when we are in a foreign place, such as Southeast Asia, there is a whole new meaning to the word SPICY that our little American sushi just doesn't offer, so we will stick with the regular from here on out.....ouch!!
PS - As I am writing this I am thinking some of my TX cousins and Johnny would have loved this stuff, but I'm telling you - its HOT.
PPS - We are both very excited to have dinner with our friends tonight. Burr and I are actually splitting up. I'm going to dinner with Sandie Wun, a collegue of mine who just transferred back to her home of Singapore but was in London wihle we were. Burr is going to dinner with Ben...a fraternity brother, his last name escapes me right now. Our flight tomorrow doesn't leave for Hong Kong until the afternoon so we are considering the Singapore Zoo as we here it is great.
Love you all!
