YEAH – We moved out of Tee-Tiny apartment and moved to Tiny apartment! YIPEE. So, yes Burr and I moved into our new flat on Saturday. We had to flag down some poor cab driver to drive a mere £3 drive , but wait approx. 30 min for us to load and unload all our stuff from the cab – oh well!
I will post pictures of the flat once I feel it is decorated properly….and seeing as it is moving quite slowly it could be a while.
Its 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom. There are a couple very strange things about it…
1. Its shaped just like the Johnny and Kaye’s house in Charleston where the floor slopes (Yes, literally one side of the bedroom is about 8 inches higher than the other side)....but since I love Charleston I thought this was a good sign.
2. There is no dishwasher (Unless you count me, and I would send me back and ask for a newer version that does not complain while washing!)
3. There is no disposal
4. As of now there are no plates or silverware…
- Funny story…so we move in Sat. am and I have the delivery grocery service bring us an order sat. am (I think I am so smart to have had toilet paper, paper towels, and food!) and we decide let’s make the spaghetti so we don’t have to go out. I am boiling the noodles and have the sauce heating up when we remember* WE DON’T HAVE ANY PLATES OR SILVERWARE..hmmm what shall we do. So, Burr and I eat our spaghetti in Tupperware containers with gigantic serving spoons…def. should have taken a pic
- Then, last night we make fajitas ( I have been craving Mexican, and the more I try to find good salsa the more I crave it). So anyway, we are making the fajitas and again we remember *NO PLATES* - so I tear the box that the tortillas came in in half and Burr and I eat our dinner on half a cardboard box. Again I should have taken a pic…so funny.
- Good news…our plates and silverware are supposed to come tomorrow- yeah!
5. There is a ½ fridge, yes just like the one you had in college (But this one has actual food in it!)
6. Our separate dryer* is in our closet. So, no we do not have room for it to stay in the closet and no, there is not a plug in the closet for it to go to…so guess where it is? Its our new bedside table. I will buy some sort of tablecloth and lamp to go on top of it, but still hilarious that our dryer doubles as the bedside table.
*Side Note 1 – Yes a SEPEREATE dryer means that the dryer does not have identity crisis and actually dries – wahhooo! (Steve – catch the UVa reference!)
7. Our heater is connected to the wall and the temperature dial on it reads numbers 1 through 10. Now what the heck is that!!? How do I know if I would like my temperature to be set at 6.5 please,?! Oh joy.
8. The great news is trash i picked up 2 times a week. I LOVE that, everyone needs trash day 2 times a week - yippeeee.
