Hello there! This weekend was our first weekend to host people in our new (yet still empty house). In turned out to be great fun, perhaps ending with Burr and me having a dance party just the 2 of us....not wine or beer induced at all. We served a Mexican feast (shocker!) and then I cooked up a storm Sunday.
I made overnight pumpkin oats for my breakfast this week (one of my new favs!) - http://www.shape.com/healthy-eating/meal-ideas/10-new-ways-eat-oatmeal?slide=32895
Then for dinner we did Spaghetti Squash with Chicken Sausage Marinara....no I didn't make the sausage but I made the sauce in the crockpot - delicious (No link, its from the everyday slow cooker recipe)
For dessert I made greek yogurt pumpkin ice cream - Burr didn't love it, but I sure did.
I am TOTALLY loving our dishwasher, sink with disposal, laundry room, and huge closet. Not tyring to brag...just saying that there are some ups to leaving our wonderful 500 sq. feet on Walton Street.
Hoping to make it to a fun work dinner with friends at Charlotte's new - Burger and Sushi bar. Sound weird? It is! You can get a filet in a sushi roll, but its yummy.
This weekend we are off to UVA for another football filled weekend. Loving this fall weather and football season!
Hope everyone is having a fabulous week.

Hello from Los Angeles!
ReplyDeleteAmme, I'm so happy to hear that y'all are enjoying your new home. It's crazy how much a difference a few hundred square feet of living space can make, and it sounds like you're both making the most of it.
If you're keen on an upholstered headboard (I love them, Shannon, not so much), they're easy to DIY. Get the dimensions and shape of the frame you want, then go to Home Depot or Lowes, ask them to take a huge sheet of plywood and cut it to your specifications. Get foam and do the same, gluing it to the frame. Then get your fabric and slowly pull it tight around the frame of your headboard as you staple it down. It takes a little time, but it's totally doable.
Target sells some cheap ones online, though, and check out Ballard Designs as well. The prices are reasonable, and you can customize with fabric, nailhead trim, tufting, etc.
I wish I could help with sofas, but the last time we bought one in the US was 12 years ago. Norwalk Furtniture makes super comfortable sofas for great prices, just be careful about which fabric you choose. We love the sofa we had custom made in Tokyo, and are so glad to have it in our new home~it's very Restoration Hardware. Dont rule them out, though. See if RH has an outlet in the Carolina's.
Best wishes as you furnish your new home! Show us some pics, because I'm a total Nosey Nelly like that.
Warmly,
Elizabeth
